Consultation, verification, testing and compliance reporting to meet high performance targets.

New requirements require new solutions. Montroc considers the whole process to meet new and increasingly demanding requirements.

Airtightness Testing

This testing represents a new and critical effort to reduce energy use and increase building performance. It is required for the BC Energy Step Code and VBBL (Vancouver Building Bylaw) for both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings.

Montroc provides the airtightness testing plan, site coordination, systems preparation through to complete testing and analysis. Infrared imaging, fog testing, envelope inspections help ensure targets are met. Using a series of calibrated fans and the latest software and technology ensures the test is performed quickly and accurately.

The airtightness of a building is a critical task to reduce energy use, increase comfort and ensure the long term operation of the building’s envelope, systems and structure.

EnerGuide Rating System

Energy Advisors (EAs) provide energy modelling, airtightness testing and project verification to comply with the EnerGuide Rating System requirements for residential (Part 9) buildings. The system is administered by Natural Resources Canada. Montroc assesses the energy, water, durability as well as environmental and health aspects of the home.

An Energy Advisor is required for BC’s Energy Step Code, Vancouver’s Building Bylaw (VBBL), the Greener Homes Grant and others.

Passive House

Montroc provides consulting, testing and verification to meet the Passive House standard. airtightness requirements as well as

Passive House is recognized by the United Nations as the optimal way to build healthy, climate-resilient, affordable, and energy-efficient residential, institutional, and commercial buildings through all stages of design, construction, and livability.

Passive House is key benchmark for BC Energy Step Code as well as the City of Vancouver building policy.
